OK, so this was the first time tino and the kzoo crew have hosted at failureball as far as I know. [glow=red,2,300]first let me get done dwelling on the negative so that no one else has to gripe about it ...[/glow]
1) It rained (not his fault)
2)They (field owners) boned us on starting time (Not Tino's fault)
3) they (field owners) boned us yet again on using the whole field (Not Tino's fault)
4) There were gripes and I mean lots of gripes about hits not being called. most of the issues I observed were caused by guys wearing patches from a team that sounds something like phallic testicle which appears to be a big bird... (Not Tino's fault either, but Tino fixed this one)
What the hell went well then? Well I will tell you just a little bit of the positive aspects of the day...
1) despite the failures by the field owners, The Kzoo crew ran a very well organized and action filled event.
2) They found a great way to balance the event by changing the respawn times appropriately to balance the game when one side was losing.
3) I had a blast playing during the second half, the scenarios were balanced very fairly in my opinion.
4) Refs picked up the slack and handled disputes fairly and effectively in my opinion.
5) I thoroughly enjoyed meeting everyone new and seeing familiar faces again. (Now I know who is who finally...)
6) It was great to get out and kick asses with all of the guys from Alamo, and at this time I want to take a moment to recognize a few people. In particular Pagan did a great job leading his guys and Captain-Jack-Sparrow maintained the high standard of medical service we look forward to here in the USA by providing rapid medical service to everyone who called for help as fast as his dread-locks could get there
7) Team Immoral was redeemd by Reaper, Gunny Vulture and a few others from whom I have come to expect good sportsmanship and the finest performance no matter which team they play on.
All in all, I think Tino's guys did one hell of a good job turning lemons into lemonade. I am only sorry that our ambassador-VD decided to take off and missed the game turning around into a great experience. For what it's worth, I almost left too but Pagan and others picked on me until I agreed to stay, I am glad that i did. Tino, thanks for hosting a fun and exciting event.
